Welcome to the College of Pharmacy
The Board of Trustees of Harding University approved the creation of a College of Pharmacy at its campus in Searcy, Arkansas. The program was designed to meet the mission of the University to provide a quality education that will lead to an understanding and philosophy of life consistent with Christian ideals.
Admission to the College of Pharmacy requires the completion of pre-pharmacy courses described on this Web site. The College of Pharmacy offers a four-year program of study leading to the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree. The four-year program consists of three years comprised of a combination of didactic instruction and early pharmacy practice experiences followed by a fourth year comprised entirely of advanced pharmacy practice experiences. There is an emphasis on the integration of faith, learning and living, the development of Christian scholarship, the promotion of Christian ethics, and the promotion of citizenship within a global perspective through participation in mission efforts.
Once admitted to the Harding University College of Pharmacy, students benefit from the close ties the University has already forged with public and private institutions throughout the world. As an example, students will have the opportunity to gain clinical education at a medical mission point in Namwianga, Kolomo, Zambia. Students also benefit from interactions with those in Harding’s other health sciences programs including nursing and physician assistant students. Interprofessional education is utilized as much as possible in the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum.
For decades, Harding University has been viewed as a crossroads of the United States and the world with 50 states and more than 40 countries being represented in its student body. The University maintains international programs for undergraduates based in Florence, Italy; London, England; Brisbane, Australia; Athens, Greece; Viña del Mar, Chile; and France/Switzerland. Additionally, the University provides sponsorship, support and encouragement for countless Christian service projects, including evangelistic and medical missions, disaster relief and aid to the disadvantaged. The merging of such diverse experiences and knowledge generates a distinctive educational environment. This multicultural atmosphere with an emphasis on liberty and justice will result in the development of Christian servants who possess an understanding of and respect for other cultures.
Harding University College of Pharmacy seeks to attract applicants from across the country and to become a nationally competitive pharmacy program. Special consideration is given to those applicants who have attended Harding or other church of Christ-affiliated institutions, but all applicants are evaluated on their own merits.
