Through 2011 Dr. J. Robert Clinton researched more than 3,500 lives as case studies concerning spiritual leadership development. From this research he developed Leadership Emergence Theory that explores leadership development as a function of time, God’s sovereign work, life’s events and our responses to these events. Clinton’s findings are that leadership can be developed but it is difficult to finish well. His research indicated only one in every three biblical leaders continued to lead well throughout their lives. When applied to the local Clinton’s principles to the local church setting, they are a helpful predictor of differing life, ministry and leadership experiences useful in developing the spiritual leadersGod is calling in his churches.
