Book An Appointment: Students can book any of the following services through Handshake.


The Center for Professional Excellence (CPE) at Harding University connects students, employers, faculty, and staff to comprehensive career services, equipping students across all majors with the resources and connections for long-term professional success.

Services

Handshake is our platform for On Campus Jobs, Appointments, Career Fairs, and more. Book an appointment under Handshake Platform for assistance. Other appointment types include Resume and Cover Letter Review, Career Closet, Professional Headshot, Mock Interview, Interview Rooms, and Career Planning Resources. 

  • Overview: Handshake is the leading platform for students and alumni to connect with job opportunities. Access it using your Harding username and password to explore events, resources, and job listings.   • On Campus Jobs: On Campus Jobs can be found on Handshake. Go to ‘Career Center’, ‘Career Center Collections’, then ‘On Campus Student Jobs’.

For resume and cover letter help, you can find resume templates under ‘resources’ in Handshake. Bring your resume or Cover Letter to your Resume and Cover Letter Review appointment.

  • Resume and Cover Letter templates can be found in Handshake to download. Go to ‘Career Center’, ‘Resources’ to find templates. 

Borrow professional attire for your interview or presentation from our Career Closet.

Completing your profile with a picture can increase your chances of getting noticed by an employer. Book a complementary Professional Headshot through Handshake (This appointment can be scheduled year-round). 

  • Photos with the University Photographer: Once a semester, our office partners with the University Photographer to provide complementary headshots for students. This event can be found on our social media, and on Handshake. 

Mock Interviews can help you feel more confident before interviewing for a job or internship. Schedule a Mock Interview through Handshake to prepare for an interview.

A variety of Info Sessions are offered to students, both from The CPE Office and Employers.

  • Etiquette Dinners: Once a semester, the CPE office hosts an etiquette dinner in partnership with the Communication Department. Students learn more about networking, and how to act during a professional dinner environment. 
  • Info Sessions: Info Sessions, sometimes called Lunch and Learns, are hosted both by the CPE and Employers to give students more information about jobs and internships. 
  • Classroom Visits: Our office regularly visits classes to introduce our office, and give an overview of career services at Harding. 
  • Resume Review: Resume Reviews can either be hosted by our office, or an employer. This event is designed to help students prep their resumes before a career fair. 

On-Campus Career Fairs help employers meet with our students before the interview process. 

  • The CPE hosts several Career Fairs a semester on the campus of Harding University. These events help students learn more about networking, internships, and job opportunities.

  • PathwayU: PathwayU is an education through career guidance platform that uses patented predictive science.  Through self-discovery, career exploration, and a job connector, PathwayU gives each learner critical insights into their best education to career pathway. 
  • Handshake and LinkedIn: Harding students should set up both their Handshake account, and LinkedIn. We recommend working on these at the same time, since the setup is similar.
