COLLEGE OF ARTS and SCIENCES ● DEPARTMENT OF THEATRE (Theatre Faculty)
Due to multiple retirements, the Department of Theatre invites mission-aligned applicants for full-time nine-month faculty positions in Theatre. The preferred candidates will hold an MFA degree in Theatre, with an appropriate specialization in either design, technical theatre, or acting/directing. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching and professional experience. The primary responsibilities for each position include teaching undergraduate courses in theatre, focusing on the candidate's particular specialization area. Each position will also serve as an integral part of the production team for the department. Harding seeks spiritually mature educators who integrate faith and learning, modeling academic and artistic excellence.
Theatre Design: Preferred Candidates should hold an MFA in Theatre with an emphasis in a design discipline and possess both professional and teaching experience. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses within the candidate’s specialization and serving as a key member of the production team. Expertise in Costume or Lighting Design is especially desired, though other design areas will be considered.
Acting/Directing: Preference will be given to applicants holding an MFA in Theatre with an emphasis in acting or directing, along with relevant professional and teaching experience. Responsibilities include teaching acting, directing, and related courses, with additional opportunities for involvement in musical theatre, children’s theatre, or classical theatre.
Technical Theatre: The preferred candidate will hold an MFA in Theatre with an emphasis in technical direction and have professional and teaching experience. Ideal applicants will demonstrate proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Lightburn, V-Carve Pro, Fusion 360, Vectorworks, AutoCAD), CNC tools, and possess strong rigging and welding skills.
