ROTC program participants can choose from any of Harding’s more than 110 majors. They will earn their college degree while learning leadership and management skills required to become a U.S. Army officer or have a successful civilian career. The unique nature of the program provides learning opportunities in the classroom with both live and simulated scenarios such as adventure training, Advanced Camp and Blackhawk training.
ROTC is a leadership program with a focus on character building, generating moral and well-rounded individuals to make an impact on the world around them. With the combined classroom instruction, hands-on training and practice, students interact with others of diverse backgrounds, experiences, political ideologies and goals, while instilling team-building, negotiation and consensus-building skills beneficial to the Army and various career fields.
An integral part of Harding University and its ROTC program, community involvement is also crucial to the success of any unit. Harding’s ROTC strives to support the processes necessary to engage in dialogue and participation with community members both locally and abroad.
Complete the chaplain program and earn a Master of Divinity to be commissioned as an Army chaplain. Full tuition is covered.
Full and partial Army ROTC scholarships are available for college-bound high school students and current students participating in the program. Army ROTC scholarships consist of two-, three- and four-year options based on the time remaining to complete the degree, full-tuition scholarships, and additional allowances for living expenses, books and fees.
To be eligible for a scholarship, students must be enrolled in ROTC classes, have a minimum of 27 college credit hours, have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA, be a full-time student pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree, and be able to pass a DODMERB Physical and the Army Physical Fitness Test. Scholarships are awarded based on merit, not on financial need.

Do ROTC students have to join the Army after graduation?
Yes; however, they may choose from active duty, National Guard or Army Reserves.
If students accept ROTC scholarships, will they deploy?
Contracted cadets are non-deployable.
Can ROTC students still participate in athletics?
A flexible schedule can be arranged for students involved in other programs.
