Interior Architecture and Design at Harding

Harding’s interior design program is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation with a balanced approached to the artistic and technical aspects of interior design. We provide students with fundamental skills, comprehensive knowledge and opportunities to implement these through the creative and relevant project experiences. Through both international and domestic trips students explore various areas of interest, visit professional firms and agencies, tour historical architecture, and engage with major galleries, studios and museums, broadening their understanding of design across cultural and historical settings.

A CIDA-accredited degree in interior design opens the door to a wide range of professional opportunities in both residential and commercial sectors. The Council for Interior Design Accreditation ensures that programs meet industry standards and adequately prepare students for professional practice.

What can you do with a degree in interior architecture and design?

Residential Interior Designer

Residential interior designers specialize in creating functional, safe and visually appealing living spaces in private homes, apartments and vacation properties. By working closely with clients to understand their lifestyle needs and aesthetic preferences, they develop tailored design concepts, layouts and material selections that bring each vision to life.

Commercial Interior Designer

Commercial interior designers shape dynamic environments such as offices, retail spaces, restaurants, hotels and health care facilities by emphasizing branding, functionality, accessibility and safety. They apply evidence-based design principles to create spaces that are immersive, ergonomic and technologically integrated, while also considering sustainability and user experience.

Allied Design Professional

Allied design professionals encompass a wide range of specialized roles that support and expand the field of interior design, including lighting designers, project managers, sales representatives, and furniture or product designers. Their diverse expertise contributes to the innovation and functionality of design across various industries.
