This degrees purpose is to promote the success of all students by providing comprehensive programs and services, which advance academic achievement and personal development. The interdisciplinary studies major allows students to tailor a degree plan to meet their specific interests and career goals.
B.A. or B.S. in interdisciplinary studies: This major uses a purpose-driven, innovative approach where students choose two or three academic concentrations, and then pursue a program of study tailored to fit their interests and career objectives.
SPECIAL OPPORTUNITIES
One-on-one mentoring: Meet with an advisor to design a degree plan for your interests. Work with a faculty member throughout your college career to ensure you are on track to meet your educational, personal and professional goals.
Internships: Internships are available in a number of industries and work settings. Advisors mentor students in seeking internship opportunities across a wide variety of career opportunities.
Service learning emphasis: As a community of mission, the University wants to empower students to make a difference in and out of the classroom. Woven through the curriculum are opportunities for students to gain and apply knowledge and skills to projects in the community, whether that be on campus, in Searcy or beyond.
Travel opportunities: Earn credit while seeing firsthand how others are changing the world through their work and vocation by taking advantage of experiential education excursions to New York City and Washington, D.C., along with any of the University’s international programs.
