"College is supposed to be an adventure..."

Co-director of Stampede Paige Whitman shares her thoughts for a worry-free freshman year.

Senior and Stampede co-director Paige Whitman is working this summer to make sure your experience at Summer Stampede is fun and productive. We asked Paige a few questions to give you an idea of what to expect out of Summer Stampede:

What goes on during Stampede?

Stampede is an early opportunity to set up your class schedule and meet fellow classmates as well as influential professors and faculty with whom you’ll be spending your college career. Stampede and Impact create a perfect environment for shared experiences with people who will become your best friends.

Describe your role as co-director.

My role as co-director is to coordinate with offices all over campus while planning fun participation events as well as energizing our executive committees and energy group leaders throughout the weekend of Impact.

What’s your biggest piece of advice for incoming students attending Stampede?

Take a deep breath. It will all work out. Whether you don’t have a roommate yet or just don’t particularly like your class schedule, you will make it through. College is supposed to be an adventure, so there is no sense in getting worried about taking an 8 a.m. class. Oh, and check your emails often!

Is there anything you wish you had known before coming to Stampede as an incoming freshman?

I am not sure I would have wanted to know anything I didn’t already know — it’s part of the experience to learn the “ins and outs” of Harding by just living them.

Make sure to check the schedule and packing list for Stampede, and we’ll see you soon!
