Everyone loved David Underwood. Whether meeting someone for the first time or reconnecting with an old friend, David had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and genuinely loved. A 1978 Harding graduate, David spent 25 years in advancement at the university, raising millions for scholarships and programs—but more importantly, building relationships that often became like family. His work was fueled by a deep faith, a global vision for the church, and a belief in the life-changing power of a Harding education. He was a devoted husband, father, and “Pop-Pop” to six grandchildren, an encourager to all, and a friend to countless people around the world. The David Underwood Endowment is a scholarship that continues his legacy by helping students receive the same kind of opportunity he spent his life providing.
