Life at Harding

Food Insecurity

Food insecurity occurs when one lacks access or has inconsistent access to nutritious and affordable meals on a consistent basis. In Fall 2022, we examined food insecurity among Harding students, engaging with social clubs, student associations and international students. We heard stories of tuition struggles, inadequate meals and students living in challenging conditions. A chapel survey revealed that 36% of respondents experienced up to 16 days without a nutritious meal monthly. With help from a grant from the Arkansas Department of Education's Higher Education Division, we established The Table, Harding University's student food resource center where one can come and be filled.

We are a part of the Harding community. Members committed to supporting and strengthening the body of Christ by being God’s hands and feet to all He sends to us and to all He sends us to. The Table is the instrument that enables us to live God’s call out loud..

 

Our Mission

Our mission is to meet each Harding community member where they are and walk them toward wholeness. Our goal is to remove any stigma associated with being food insecure and to maintain the dignity of everyone who is in need.

Where To Find Us

Location: Kendall Hall
The Table is open daily (other than designated University holidays and closures):
M-F, noon – 7 p.m.

The Harding community may “shop” the Resource Center or may complete a request form identifying the items they need. Importantly, we ask every shopper to complete an information pdf that will assist us to better serve the community and to pursue grant funding to help sustain the food resource center. Every shopper must also show their Harding ID upon entry.
