We are pleased to announce the Architecture Scholarship Program for the 2026-27 academic year. Some architecture scholarships support and encourage incoming first-year and transfer students, while others exist to reward existing architecture students who have demonstrated talent, dedication, maturity and potential.
Scholarships for incoming first-year architecture students:
The David and Leah Burks Endowed Architecture Scholarship will be awarded to an incoming full-time first-year architecture student. The recipient will be chosen from applicants based on financial need, scholarship, leadership, capability and demonstrated aptitude for architecture evidenced by portfolio review. The Burks Scholarship will award the recipient $5,000 per year for five years, provided the student is enrolled as a full-time architecture student, and maintains an overall GPA of 2.5, a GPA of 3.0 in all architecture courses and a good reputation among faculty and students.
The Architecture Advisory Board Endowed Scholarship will be awarded to an incoming full-time first-year architecture student. The recipient will be chosen from applicants based on financial need, scholarship, leadership, capability and demonstrated aptitude for architecture evidenced by portfolio review. The Advisory Board Scholarship will award the recipient $3,211 for the first year of the program, provided the student is enrolled as a full-time architecture student and maintains an overall GPA of 2.5, a GPA of 3.0 in all architecture courses and a good reputation among faculty and students.
The SCM Architects Endowed Scholarship will be awarded to an incoming full-time first-year architecture student. The recipient will be chosen from applicants based on financial need, scholarship, leadership, capability and demonstrated aptitude for architecture evidenced by portfolio review. The SCM Scholarship will award the recipient $2,171 for the first year of the program, provided the student is enrolled as a full-time architecture student and maintains an overall GPA of 2.5, a GPA of 3.0 in all architecture courses and a good reputation among faculty and students.
The Whittington Family Endowed Scholarship will be awarded to an incoming full-time first-year architecture student. The recipient will be chosen from applicants based on financial need, scholarship, leadership, capability, and demonstrated aptitude for architecture evidenced by portfolio review. The Whittington Scholarship will award the recipient $1,125 for the first year of the program, provided the student is enrolled as a full-time architecture student, and maintains an overall GPA of 2.5, a GPA of 3.0 in all architecture courses, and a good reputation among faculty and students.
Applicants should complete only one application and submit it by 5 p.m. CDT,
April 3, 2026, to be considered for all four scholarships.
Selection of scholarship recipients is based on financial need considered together with academic records, references and a competitive review of the submitted portfolio.
Application requirements include the following:
1. Declared Architecture major at Harding University.
2. Completed scholarship application (see link below).
3. Copy of high school or college transcript.
4. Expression of intent, 500-1000 words: “Why I want to study architecture at Harding University.”
5. Two letters of reference, with one from a teacher (architecture/art/design preferred).
6. Digital portfolio of work; see requirements and tips in the application link.
7. Submit the completed form with uploaded documents by 5 p.m. CDT, April 3, 2026.
