Poverty Sim
Step into the shoes of those facing the challenges of poverty in our Poverty Simulation event. Inspired by the impactful model developed by the Missouri Community Action Network, this experience provides a glimpse into the daily hardships of individuals and families who find themselves struggling to survive below the poverty line. Participants navigate through real-life scenarios, making decisions to overcome financial obstacles. In this eye-opening three-hour simulation, we aim to deepen understanding and empathy towards the complex issues surrounding poverty. Disaster Drill
Join us for our annual Disaster Drill, a collaborative training event with hundreds of participants from various backgrounds, including students, first responders, and University faculty and staff. In partnership with the Department of Public Safety and local first responders, we simulate catastrophic scenarios like tornadoes, explosions, and active shooter situations. Students from programs such as PA, Nursing, Pharmacy and Professional Counseling play pivotal roles in triaging and providing first response care to simulated victims. With volunteers dressed as victims adorned with moulage makeup, participants gain hands-on experience in assessing and treating injuries. This simulation provides a realistic experience in a controlled and safe environment, allowing participants to learn from their actions and enhance patient safety. Don't miss this opportunity to hone your emergency response skills and contribute to our community's preparedness efforts.
Movie Night
Students gather to review health challenges in a current feature film. At the conclusion of the film, students offer insights into how their profession can make an impact in the health lives of real life characters in the portrayed issues.
Acute Care Sim
Experience the intensity of real-world healthcare scenarios in our Acute Care Sim event. Nursing, PA, Pharmacy, and CFIT students come together in a hospital setting, utilizing hi-fidelity manikins to provide a lifelike experience. Through this immersive simulation, participants navigate through diverse patient encounters, facing dynamic challenges that test their Interprofessional collaborative skills and decision-making abilities.
Virtual Home Assessment
Embark on a transformative journey with our Virtual Home Assessment event, a cornerstone in advancing interprofessional education. Held in both the fall and spring semesters, this intra-institutional experience immerses students in the complexities of post-operative geriatric care through a telehealth lens. Join a virtual simulated healthcare team as we assess and plan for acute and chronic needs. Through this innovative approach, participants engage in meaningful discussions and collaboration, through the application of interprofessional competencies while promoting patient and family centered care. Explore the growing landscape of telehealth and its impact on modern healthcare practice.
CVA Symposium
