Dr. Monte Cox graduated from Harding with a Bachelor of Arts in Bible in 1981. He and his wife of 45 years, Beth, were part of a church-planting team among the Kalenjin-speaking people groups of Kenya from 1982-1992. Upon his return to the U. S. in 1992, he began teaching Bible and missions at Harding. He completed the Master of Arts in missiology and church growth at Harding School of Theology in Memphis in 1994 and a Doctor of Philosophy in intercultural studies at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 1999. He directed the Center for World Missions at Harding from 1992-2005 and became dean of the College of Bible and Ministry in 2005. His academic teaching focus is on comparative religions and spiritual disciplines. He served as the preaching minister at the  Downtown Church of Christ from 2013-2022 where he has been an elder since 2002. He and Beth have three children and four grandchildren.
