Donald Ballard, a native West Virginian, obeyed the gospel at age 19 at the  Harlem Church of Christ in New York City. He was mentored by Dr. O.J.  Shabazz and Dr. R.C. Wells in Harlem. He has earned degrees in fine arts and biblical studies.  

For nine years, he served as dean of student affairs and Bible chair at  Foundation Christian Academy and High School in Valrico, Florida.  

In January 2022, he became the evangelist at the University Park Church of Christ in Hyattsville, Maryland, a uniquely diverse congregation near  Washington, D.C. and the University of Maryland.
