Monday Morning Mentor
The CTL provides a subscription to the Monday Morning Mentor, and through Magna Campus. These videos come out each Monday morning and can be accessed by a video link sent by email. Each week they feature a different topic on effective teaching. The videos are about twenty minutes each but come with supplemental materials and resources listed in the link, along with a printable transcript and certificate submittable to the CTL for points toward the annual certificate. The videos are available for only one week each, but the downloadable transcript and supplemental materials may be kept for future reference.
Harding’s Brackett Library Libguide
The Brackett Library Libguide has resources including journals and books to help teachers with questions about better teaching, mentoring, adjunct teaching, teaching in science classes, and many other general and specialty resources.
Communities of Practice (CoP)
Communities of Practice are small learning groups that meet on a regular basis and have a particular focus, such as learning more about AI, and involve practicing, in some way. This can be the practice of writing, as in our Writers Community of Practice, or implementation of pedagogy, research or other kinds of practice by the group. Professional Learning Communities
Professional Learning Communities are similar to CoPs but that may not emphasize practice or implementation. They are often more discussion or presentation oriented. These vary from year to year, so to form a new group or to request a current list, please contact the CTL Director, Kathy Dillion at kdillion@harding.edu.
CTL Book Club
The CTL book clubs are small group learning focused on a book that addresses some aspect of teaching and learning. Each year the book selections vary, but the format is to read and discuss works that promote effective teaching.
