Every five years the US government does a census of local governments.  Take a look at the results.

 

 

 

Constituent letter link: NOTE:  One of these suggests keeping your letter to one page or less.  Because this particular assignment serves two purposes (as a constituent letter and to amaze and impress your teacher with your vast amount of knowledge on your chosen subject) you will probably need more than one page to lay out your argument.
