English as a Second Language

About

Welcome to the English as a Second Language program (ESL) at Harding University!

The ESL Program is a full-time program that enables students to build a strong foundation in academic, cultural, and study skills that prepares them for success at the university and beyond. Students take a variety of classes to improve their English and participate in activities designed to help them integrate into university life.

The International Advance Program (IAP) is a hybrid program in which international students take 9-12 hours of carefully selected classes in their major while they continue to improve their English skills with academic support.

In addition, ESL and IAP students enjoy interacting with American conversation partners, Peer Guides, tutors, and host families, and have access to all campus resources, organizations, and activities.

Students benefit from small classes and lots of language, social, and academic support. Faculty, staff, and fellow students provide encouragement and friendship.

If you’re interested in studying English in a warm and friendly environment, you belong at Harding!
